About Idlestory
A small idle RPG inspired by MapleStory, run privately for a group of friends. Every name on the rankings is someone one of us knows.
Why it exists
Idlestory is an educational project: a way to learn, hands on, how a game server, a launcher and a website fit together, and to keep it running for real players. It's looked after by one person, with a few Game Masters helping out.
How it works
You make an account here, download the launcher, and sign in. The launcher installs the game and keeps it up to date. Your hero fights on its own; you come back to spend what it earned, gear up and climb.
This site is where you see how everyone is doing: each player's character page, the guilds, the hall of fame, and the rankings for Combat Power, Level, Fame, World Boss, Conquest, Arena, Guild War, Snake Brothers and Training.
Your account
Other players see your in-game character, never your username or e-mail. Passwords are stored hashed, never as plain text. If you lose yours, a Game Master can set a temporary one.
